Consider things of the past. Some historians would point to the past (philosophers too), and claim more than ancestry with the past, a real and breathing connection. I'm not talking about exploring your inner child and the hurts a little boy of three experiences...not this time. No, I'm thinking about those ripples that Victor Hanson talks about. Time is not a static thing, surely the spirit is not governed by it, some parts of us may be quite dimensional. For all practical reasons however, assume time is a strict gate keeper and we cannot feel the shock and horror of the concentration camps any more than we can feel Babel. ...but we can.

My mind reaches to the past; to see a great King on a rooftop, spying. A great sea-bed is made dry as six hundred thousand people cross to the other side, flanked by a pillar of fire. An island explodes in fury, tidal waves rush from coast to coast while a thalassocracy of mongers prayed for the first time. A middle aged man standing on a field at Delium, preparing to rip another's guts out would one day allow the citizens of Athens to destroy him.

What more can be said of so many other conflicts and the mess they made of men. Do women know more of how to be woman than the little girls of four thousand years ago? Do little girls suffer the same fears?

Ripples. I don't know much, sometimes I stop thinking about girls and obligations; I get wondering about some pretty cool stuff. I could never command an army, I could never write a good book, but I can marvel at it. I am amazed at the way this world has kept turning today...

It will keep turning regaurdless.
